Azoran contains Azathioprine, an immunosuppressant medication. It is utilized to prevent kidney transplant rejection and for the treatment of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic active hepatitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, periarteritis nodosa, acquired hemolytic anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, gangrenous pyoderma, psoriasis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis, pemphigus (a persistent blistering skin condition), Reiter's syndrome (an autoimmune disorder linked to infections elsewhere in the body), and radiation dermatitis.

Azoran should be taken with food. Dosage varies based on the specific condition being treated. Adhere to all directions provided by your physician. Never take more than one dose of Azoran at the same time.

Do not discontinue Azoran usage, even if you don't notice immediate improvements. Its benefits may take several days or weeks to manifest. If you do not observe any alleviation of symptoms after three months of treatment, consult your doctor. The risk of transplant rejection can persist even after years of treatment. Regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor blood cell counts: weekly during the first eight weeks of treatment.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure as Imuran can elevate cancer risk. Regular skin examinations are recommended. Patients with systemic joint tissue diseases should not cease treatment without their doctor's approval to avoid exacerbating their condition. Azoran may reduce the immune status of an unborn child. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or nursing. Notify your doctor if you are planning surgery, or if you experience fever, body aches, weakness, muscle pain, chills, sore throat, easy bruising or bleeding, mouth sores, severe nausea, vomiting, pale stools, dark urine, or diarrhea.

Adverse reactions to Imuran mainly involve the blood and gastrointestinal systems. A decrease in white blood cell count may occur, leading to a heightened risk of infections. This side effect often resolves when the dosage is lowered or temporarily suspended. Nausea and vomiting related to Azoran usually subside when the dose is adjusted or divided into smaller amounts. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis might experience liver toxicity. Other rarer side effects may include hair loss, joint pain, fatigue, and diarrhea.
